SPAstic...
In view of the coming of SPAstic activities, please note the following to ensure success.

Skill B

  1. NEVER EVER fill up burette using a dropper so that you get O cm3
  2. NEVER EVER leave your funnel on burette.
  3. When pipetting and releasing solution into flask, tilt flask, touch the pipette tip GENTLY on the dry side, and roll one time and pull out. NEVER make any clink clink noises.
  4. SWIRL CONTINUOUSLY, and i mean REALLY CONTINUOUSLY
  5. DO NOT use the 1.5 drop 180* turn technique, nor the 0.5 drop touch side technique
  6. USE YOUR WHITE TILE.
  7. SHAKE your volumetric flask REALLY REALLY well.
  8. ALL TABLES must have PROPER titles as i have taught you.
  9. Recording colour change: The solution turned from COLOUR A to COLOUR B; where colour A is the colour JUST before end pt and colour B is THE END PT. (e.g Fe2+ titration, the colour of solution before end was pale yellow although it started out colourless/green, so record Pale Yellow to Pale Orange)
  10. Skill B discussions MUST BE INCLUDED. +-0.10cm3 MUST MUST BE INCLUDED.
  11. AT LEAST 2 reasons for consistency. (Rinsing of apparatus NOT ALLOWED)
  12. At least 1 reason for anomaly.
  13. Record everything to PROPER D.P.
Skill C

  1. Please write PROPER mathematical statements. ("No. of moles of HCl" NOT accepted if you referring to different volumes. Write "No. of moles of HCl in 25.0dm3")
  2. TIDY TIDY TIDY TIDY WORKINGS. Cancelling and blanco NOT encouraged.
  3. For simplicity ALL answers CONSISTENTLY 3 s.f.
  4. NEW CHANGE. ALL Ar and Mr now must be in 1 D P and only 1 D P (e.g. 120.0), EVEN WHEN they appear in a working!!!
  5. Show step by step working, don't skip if possible
  6. When invoking burette or pipette etc readings, write down to their appropriate d.p. in your calculations! 18.90 must be written, not 18.9. 25.0, not 25. 5.00g, not 5g
  7. Make sure you know your redox and stoich.
Last of all, you don't have time to dilly dally so do fast and think fast.
